What Are Bed Bugs?

 

The bed bug (Cimex Lectularius), which is the most common bed bug prefers to feed on human blood. Adult bed bugs are light brown to reddish-brown, flattened and oval in shape and no bigger than an apple seed at their largest stage. They have a banded appearance due to segmented abdomens. Newly hatched nymphs are translucent, lighter in color and become browner as they moult and reach maturity. Bed bugs use pheromones and kairomones to communicate regarding nesting locations, feeding and reproduction.
